Disclaimer: The final report guidelines may change until 10th August 2026

Judging Criteria

Teams will be judged based on 4 different criteria :

  • Final Portfolio Value (Return on Investment): Based on the 8-week return on your portfolio, will it be able to achieve the client’s financial goals at the end of 10 years? You will need to show that your portfolio achieves the target return you have set and outline reasons if not.

  • Creativity in Strategy: This evaluates how well you articulate your strategy as well as how effective it is to help achieve the client’s investment goals. On top of that, has the strategy ensured a balanced portfolio, with diversified assets and effective risk management? Are the chosen investments aligned with the client’s mindset, motivations and ethics? Is the strategy unique to the client’s financial situation and their risk tolerance? This should be clearly mentioned.

  • Financial Analysis: This criteria sees how well you use data and numbers from Investlab and other sources to determine target return, portfolio allocation and stock/bond analysis. A great score is achieved if the analysis is implemented to support your team's strategy.Final

  • Report Quality: It is necessary that the slideshow follows the word limit and the maximum number of slides allowed. Make sure to address all the questions and requirements given in the guidelines. Additional marks are also rewarded when the slideshow has quality and is presentable.

What should be included in the final report

You are required to follow the rubrics below:

Page ONE (Cover/Title Page)

You must include the name of every team member, your team's Bursa username, your team name and your category (Secondary School or Pre-university).

Section 1: Team Reflection

⭐Guidance: 2-4 Slides, 150-250 word limit.

The main goal of this competition is about what your team has learnt in the past few weeks. The soft skills gained are of utmost importance. How has your team’s teamwork and communications improved over the weeks? What skills have you gained, what have you learnt about working together as a group? (Any general reflection for this section is acceptable, we care the most about how your team has grown and bonded with each other).

Investment Challenges, Roadblocks and Issues.

What were some of the problems/obstacles that your team has faced, and how did you manage to overcome them? Whether this be investment issues, communication issues, etc, do include it! Do mention any specific anecdotes, if you do want to share them; if there were any disagreements, how did your team work together to solve the issue? Be specific, where possible.

Section 2: Team Investment Strategy

⭐Guidance: 7-10 Slides around 800-1100 word limit

Overall, explain your team’s investment strategy and how it has changed and developed over the weeks. How did your team approach the client’s investment goal? Include any data, market trends, current news, etc, that could justify why you decided to take the approach. Explain, in detail, the criteria that your team used to decide which investments to buy, in what quantity, and the reasons to sell (if any investments were sold). Be specific, include any financial models your team used, formulas, where applicable. If your team did not use any detailed models, don’t worry, complexity does not equal “the best.” To stand out, you could come up with catchy names or slogans to explain your investments with the theme of the client!

Include individual tables for each investment type (stock, bonds or ETFs) that you hold by the end of the competition. For each, include the stock ticker, name of the stock, quantity, and total value of that stock that you own, by the end of the competition. For example:

Also state how much cash is in your portfolio at the end (if there's any).

Then, Choose two trading notes (any stock, bond or ETFs) from your portfolio in Bursa InvestLab:
Include the selected trading notes, and in 200 words or fewer for EACH investment note, explain how EACH investment is related to your overall investment strategy reflect on how they related to your understanding and design of your investment strategy.
✅ You must use actual trading notes from trades you made.
