Final Report and Judging

Trading and Final Round

The trading phase will commence from 15 June to 10 August 2026 and the final round will happen on 26 September 2026.

No transport is provided for the finalist. The teams must arrive at the event with personal or school transport.

The final event will commence for the whole day on 26 September 2026. Detailed information will be provided when the date is near.

Meals are provided for all students and accompanying adults.

Competition & Registration

National Young Investor Challenge is a competition that aims to expose students to the basics of investing in stocks and bonds. This competition includes learning from the NYIC course, reviewing a case study, trading and creating a final report.

The trading phase will run for 8 weeks from 15 June - 10 August and final report submission from 11 - 17 August 2026. During the trading phase, the team can trade at any time when the trading market is open. The commitment depends on how much you want to get from the experience. You will have to balance between daily life and the time used for investing resembling a real-life investor. We recommend planning how much commitment your team would like to have, so you have a schedule in place and don’t have to rush to meet deadlines.

There are two categories: pre-university (and SPM Leavers) and secondary school. Pre-university is for 15 - 17 years old and secondary school is for 17 - 19 years old. Those who are interested must be within that age gap and are enrolling in any educational institution fitting to their age. Do note that you will be representing your institution throughout the competition. Those who are homeschooled or do not belong to any specific institution are still eligible to participate, but they cannot team up with school students.

In the website, you can click the upper interface, click Market -> Assets -> Equities -> Stocks. This will give you information of every company that is available for trading on the website. You can click any company and view their current financial position, historical news and analyst recommendation. This can help you make decisions on where to invest and how much. You are encouraged to explore the website further for a deeper understanding in the world of investing. There is a ‘Learn’ section that contains articles and videos on specific topics

Every stock purchase and sale is charged RM10 as commission. Therefore, the team must evaluate the benefits and drawback of every decision, ensuring the profit exceeds the cost and expenses

The competition only allows buying and selling stocks, ETFs and bonds.

Yes, we do not specifically prohibit non-shariah compliant stocks. However, the decision whether to invest in sharia stocks or not depends on the given case study and team decision making.

Stock markets are closed at night (5 p.m. to 8 a.m.),weekends and public holidays. Therefore, you can only place trades during office hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m..

Each team will start with a total virtual fund of RM100,000 for them to manage throughout the trading phase.

The username must be the name of the team that is put during registration. Using a different name from the one that has been registered in prior will result in a request from the NYIC committee to change name. Failure to comply will result in team elimination.

The website will automatically log out inactive pages to avoid being misused by people other than team members and the advisor. This feature is created to protect the money owned by users, ensuring the safety and the credibility of the competition.

You can set up the website to give you notification when a stock has reached a certain maximum or minimum value. This would assist the team in making sure they do not miss a crucial moment where they have to purchase or sell.

The team ranking will be posted on the Instagram account every week based on weekly returns.. However, every team must remember that the final value of their portfolio is what will be evaluated, therefore they must not be discouraged from making long-term investments.
